Learning Objectives

By the end of the day, attendees will:

  1. The results of the WINTIP Wisconsin Clinicians Survey regarding the treatment of nicotine dependence while other treatment services are provide.

  2. How tobacco presents the most lethal threat to successful recovery from all other substance dependence disorders and contributes to relapse.

  3. How to present the “Common Characteristics of Substance Dependence” lecture utilizing educational materials supplied at the training.

  4. How to introduce tobacco and nicotine in a Tobacco Awareness Group.

  5. How to create treatment plans that include nicotine dependence objectives for primary and continuing care.

  6. Where to obtain resources for continuing education and training on tobacco and nicotine dependence.

  7. Understand that AODA counselors already possess the skills to successfully deliver nicotine dependence treatment in the full range of levels of care.
