Insight on Helping Mental Health Patients to Quit Tobacco Use

Contact Roger Dier for FREE training, technical assistance, or speaking events

The Wisconsin Nicotine Treatment Integration Project (WiNTiP) completed a busy month in May 2011 training addiction and mental-health counselors on how to help their patients quit tobacco use.

Mental Health Training
The featured event was a training for mental-health counselors at the Kalahari Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells.

WAAODA Conference
WiNTiP Managing Consultant David “Mac” Macmaster presented at the 45th WAAODA Conference for substance-abuse counselors. Mac also offered an exhibit at the conference, held in Waukesha. Mac said the trainees gave positive feedback on the session. One highlight was a presentation by UW-CTRI Outreach Specialist Roger Dier, who answered questions on smokeless tobacco.

National Spotlight
Mac has also been invited to be the liaison between ATTUD (Association for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence) and NAADAC, the national professional association for addiction specialists.
