Cara
Cara provides
the latest evidence-based tobacco cessation information to medical
facilities, health departments, coalitions and others in southwestern Wisconsin. She works with clinics, hospitals and healthcare systems to implement the recommendations
of the U. S. Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guideline:
Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence system wide. She
also promotes the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line and
set up Fax to Quit sites within clinics and hospitals, in addition to providing support to First
Breath, a program that helps pregnant women in Wisconsin
quit smoking.

Cara graduated from Winona State University with a bachelor’s degree in school and community-health education. She completed an internship at Gundersen Lutheran, where she worked with patients trying to quit smoking through the “Journey to Freedom” program, a 16-week program offered at Gundersen. Cara hails from Lamberton, a small town in southwestern Minnesota.
