Megan Sheffer, PhD
Scientist

Megan (pronounced Mee-gan) Sheffer is a UW-CTRI scientist working with the Outreach staff on policy research. Her first task will be to help direct the new CDC grant to evaluate Fax to Quit (Michael Fiore is the principal investigator). Sheffer will serve an important role as UW-CTRI transitions to conducting more and more translational research.

A University of Wisconsin graduate, Sheffer earned her master’s in public health at UW-La Crosse and her PhD in oral science from the University of Iowa. She was a postdoctoral fellow and adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa. There, she conducted tobacco-policy research, such as studying the economic effects of the Iowa City smokefree restaurant ordinance. She has experience in survey research.

“I’m excited to be working for UW-CTRI and to help improve the health of our state and nation,” she said.
