Bruce Christiansen, PhD, Lead Researcher
Bruce Christiansen is the director of the Milwaukee research office and currently leads a team of researchers updating the Clinical Practice Guideline: Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence.
Bruce completed his undergraduate work at Alma College in Alma, Mich. and earned his PhD in clinical psychology at Wayne State University in urban Detroit.

During the late 1980’s, Bruce was a UW-Madison assistant clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry; he taught medical residents in Milwaukee how to treat tobacco dependence. He previously worked with the Wisconsin Medicaid Program through APS Healthcare and Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
His tobacco research interests include:

Addressing tobacco use among people with low incomes.

Partnering with healthcare systems to create practicle, sustainable tobacco-cessation interventions in communities.

Bruce commutes between the UW-CTRI offices in Milwaukee and Madison and lives in Waterloo with his wife, Susan.
