Tammy Harris Sims, MD, MS
Assistant Professor, UW Department of Pediatrics


Tammy Harris Sims, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UW-Madison, is interested in promoting smoking cessation among under-served populations, especially adolescents.

Her publications include a review of pharmacotherapy used to treat tobacco dependence in the primary care setting, plus original research on physician interventions to address tobacco use among adolescents in the Medicaid program. She currently conducts research both at the UW Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention as well as the School of Dentistry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Sims completed her bachelor's degree at Xavier University of Louisiana, her M.D. at UCLA/Charles R. Drew Medical School and her M.S. in epidemiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
