UW-CTRI Outreach Continues to Reach Hundreds of Health Care Providers

So far in 2010, the UW-CTRI regional outreach specialists have provided training and technical assistance (TTA) for 711 healthcare providers. 

Specialists Kris Hayden, Roger Dier, and Susanne Morris -- along with Outreach Director Rob Adsit -- have provided 96 training sessions. Eighty-five of those included TTA on the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line.

Two thirds of the TTA was with clinicians who treat low-income patients. A focus this year has been collaborating with Delta Dental and the Wisconsin Dental Association to encourage dental professionals to treat tobacco use.

Since 2000, the Outreach team has made more than 50,000 contacts with doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and other professionals throughout Wisconsin, and many of these professionals refer patients to the Quit Line.
