WSHS Quit-Smoking Treatments

The study will compare five different treatments for quitting smoking:
1. nicotine patch
2. nicotine lozenge
3. nicotine patch and nicotine lozenge
4. bupropion (also known as, Zyban™ or Wellbutrin™)
5. bupropion (also known as, Zyban™ or Wellbutrin™) and nicotine lozenge

You will not be able to choose which medications you receive. The medications will be randomly assigned. Around 87% of participants will get active medication and 13% will receive placebo medication that contains no active ingredient (like a sugar pill).

Everyone in the study will receive six individual, one-on-one counseling sessions to help stop smoking. Counseling alone has been shown to double the success rate of quitting.
